LAHORE – Pakistan will host the Davis Cup World Group I Play-Off against its traditional rival, India. The matches between the two teams will take place at the Pakistan Sports Complex in Islamabad.

The Indian team is set to arrive on January 29, with the matches scheduled for February 4 and 5. Pakistan’s squad includes Muzammil Murtaza, Aisam-ul-Haq, Aqeel Khan, Muhammad Shoaib, Barkatullah, and Muhammad Abid.

Prior to this, the Director-General of the Pakistan Sports Board assured that high-level security measures would be in place for the reception of the Indian team. He mentioned, “We have discussed various matters related to maintaining top-notch security measures for the upcoming visit of the expected Indian team on their tour to Pakistan,”.

A security plan was shared with all relevant authorities participating in the meeting.

While standard full-proof security measures are usually implemented for all incoming foreign teams, special measures will be taken for the Indian team. The Davis Cup, also known as the “Tennis World Cup,” is an extremely prestigious organization with over 140 teams participating annually since its establishment in 1900.

The 12 winning countries from the 2024 World Group I Play-Offs will compete in the World Group I Ties in September. The 12 losing countries will play the World Group II Ties in September.
