ISLAMABAD – The National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) on Wednesday announced to ease restrictions on inbound flights from November 10 amid a decline in the number of coronavirus cases across the globe.
NCOC decided to relax the curbs after the enforcement of obligatory vaccination for inbound passengers, an official statement said.
According to the NCOC, “Inbound air traffic will operate at full quantum with effect from November 10.”
The forum has placed Armenia, Bulgaria, Costa Rica, Iraq, Mexico, Mongolia, Slovenia, Thailand, Trinidad & Tobago and Ukraine in Category ‘C’ due to low vaccination and high Covid-19 positivity rate.
Russia, Iran, Ethiopia, Germany, the Philippines and Afghanistan have also been placed in high-risk states. These countries will be “continuously monitored” but no restrictions will be imposed on them.
From November 5 onwards, all inbound travellers will be required to get completed their vaccination before entering Pakistan. All passengers aged six and above should have a negative PCR test report (not more than 72 hours old) before boarding, NCOC added.
Pakistan has abolished rapid antigen tests (RAT) for inbound passengers at airports. However, people coming from Category ‘C’ countries via direct flights will have to undergo this test, it said, adding that “selective flights/symptomatic passengers from Category ‘B’ countries will also undergo RAT”.
