Kashmiris’ struggle for right of self-determination now a glorious part of human history: Sardar Masood
The epic struggle by the Kashmiri people of the Indian Illegally-Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJ&K) has become a glorious part of human history and will always be referred to whenever researchers and historians write or speak on struggle for freedom or public uprising against oppression.
Former President of the AJK, Sardar Masood Khan expressed these views while addressing a seminar “Kashmir ka Muqadama: Nasl-e-Nau ki Zubaani” (Case of Kashmir in the words of the New Generation) on the eve of the Kashmir Solidarity Day held at the Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL). He was presiding over the ceremony.
Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture Division, Aurangzeb Khan Khichi was the Chief Guest on the occasion while Chairman Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon was the Guest of Honour.
Kashmiri leader Dr Samiullah Malik, Federal Secretary for National Heritage and Culture Division, Asadur Rehman Gillani, Dr Kashif Irfan, scholars, writers, and intellectuals also spoke on the occasion and expressed solidarity with the people of the IIOJ&K. they commended the PAL Chairperson Dr Najiba Arif for organizing a thought-provoking seminar that called upon the UN and the world bodies to listen to the cries of the Kashmiri women and children who have been suffering aggression and humiliation at the hands of the occupying Indian forces for decades.
The highlight of the event however was the enthusiastic participation by the students of the Punjab Gorup of Colleges and the Post-Graduate College H-9.
Federal Minister Khichi while speaking on the occasion said after listening to the young voices advocating the case of Kashmir, it is clear that our future generation is fully aware of the Kashmir dispute between Pakistan and India and will take it forward until the just end in accordance with the resolution of the UN.
The Federal Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmir cause, stating that the issue remains a serious humanitarian and international concern that must not be forgotten, while praising the passion and commitment of the younger generation towards highlighting the Kashmir narrative.
He said the event reflected PAL’s effective literary and intellectual efforts on the Kashmir issue, adding that the government would continue to raise the matter forcefully at international forums, particularly the United Nations.
In his presidential address, Sardar Masood Khan said the long-standing struggle of the Kashmiri people has become an integral part of history. He added that Pakistan now has an opportunity to present the Kashmir issue before the world with renewed resolve and a stronger stance. The current military and the political leadership of Pakistan, he said, has taken a firm stance on Kashmir and the world is now listening to the voice of Pakistan over this key issue.
