Pakistan Thrash Sri Lanka To Clean Sweep Odi Series 3 0

Pakistan thrashed Sri Lanka by six wickets in the third ODI at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Sunday to clean sweep the series 3-0.

Chasing a modest 212-run target to whitewash Sri Lanka, Pakistan crossed the finish line with six wickets in hand and 32 balls.

Mohammad Rizwan was the top scorer for the hosts with 61 off 92 balls, hitting four boundaries. Opener Fakhar Zaman laid a strong foundation for the victory with a brisk 55 off 45 balls, laced with eight boundaries.

Hussain Talat contributed a valuable 42 off 57 balls, and Babar Azam 34 off 52 balls, with the help of four boundaries. Jeffrey Vandersay bagged three wickets, while Maheesh Theekshana took one wicket.

Mohammad Wasim Junior was named Player of the Match for his outstanding contribution with the ball. Haris Rauf was named Player of the Series for bagging nine wickets in three ODIs.

After being put into bat by Pakistan skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi, Sri Lanka kept losing wickets at crucial stages and were bundled out for 211 in 45.2 overs.

Sadeera Samarawickrama was the highest scorer for the visitors with 48 off 65 balls, hitting two boundaries. Skipper Kusal Mendis contributed 34 off 54 balls, debutant Pavan Rathnayake 32 off 37 balls, Kamil Mishra 29 off 30 balls, Pathum Nissanka 24 off 27 balls, and Kamindu Mendis 10 off nine balls.

Mohammad Wasim Junior bagged three wickets, Haris Rauf and Faisal Akram two each, and Faheem Ashraf and Shaheen Shah Afridi one each, while Pavan Rathnayake was run out while trying to take the second run to keep the strike.

Pakistan made four changes in the Playing XI for the dead rubber. Standing in for the unwell Charith Asalanka, Kusal Mendis says there are also four changes in the Playing XI for the last ODI.
