ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s Test squad has officially begun preparations for the upcoming Test series against the West Indies, holding its first training session at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium ahead of the team’s departure for the Caribbean.
The opening practice session started at 10:00am and continued until 1:00pm, with players taking part in an intensive three-hour workout under the supervision of the coaching staff. The session featured a combination of batting, bowling and fielding drills, as the team began fine-tuning its skills for the overseas challenge.
Batsmen spent considerable time facing both pace and spin bowlers in the nets, while bowlers focused on improving their rhythm, accuracy and consistency. Fielding exercises were also a key part of the day’s programme, with players participating in catching drills, ground fielding and fitness routines aimed at enhancing their overall performance.
The Pakistan Cricket Board has scheduled the training camp to continue until July 12 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The coaching staff is expected to use the camp to evaluate the players’ form, fitness and combinations before the squad departs for the West Indies.
As part of the preparations, the national Test squad will also play a two-day warm-up match on July 10 and 11. The practice fixture is expected to provide valuable match experience and help the team adjust its plans ahead of the Test series.
Pakistan is scheduled to leave for the West Indies on July 13. The tour will see the national side take on the hosts in a Test series, with the team aiming to deliver a strong performance in overseas conditions.
The training camp is regarded as an important phase of Pakistan’s preparations, giving players the opportunity to sharpen their skills and build momentum before the start of the series. Team management hopes the combination of practice sessions and the warm-up match will ensure the squad is fully prepared to face the West Indies and begin the tour on a positive note.
