ISLAMABAD – Pakistanis looking for employment in Uzbekistan are facing legal issues as Bureau of Immigration and Overseas Employment issued orders for a temporary ban on the process for citizens wishing to work in Uzbekistan.

Bureau of Immigration and Overseas Employment (BE&OE) announced temporary ban on the registration of Pakistani workers for employment in Central Asian nation. This decision comes amid reports from Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighting severe issues faced by Pakistani workers in Uzbekistan, including non-payment of wages and poor working conditions.

“Protectors of Emigrants have been directed not to register workers for Uzbekistan until further notice. In urgent cases, worker applications must be sent to the Pakistan Embassy in Uzbekistan for approval and employer verification”, the notification reads.

Officials issued directive to all Protectorate Offices across the nation, issuing directions to cease the issuance of “protectors” for employment in Tashkent and other cities. It was reported that protector stamp, which is required for overseas employment, will no longer be provided for jobs in Uzbekistan.

The move aims to safeguard rights of Pakistani workers and ensure better working conditions in other nations.
