ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s envoy to the US Masood Khan sought modern small arms and equipment to ensure the success of Operation Azm-e-Istehkam.

The government and Pakistan armed forces continue efforts to curb terrorism from the country. Sharing his views at the Wilson Center in Washington, Masood Khan outlined Operation’s three-fold strategy: ideological, societal, and operational, noting that initial phases are underway with the third phase yet to start.

Stressing robust security ties and enhanced intelligence cooperation between Islamabad and Washington, Masood Khan urged resumption of sales of advanced military platforms. He further underscored the operation’s significance in combating terrorism, which poses regional security threats to both nations and their allies.

Khan also emphasized bilateral ties, urging against isolated issues hindering overall relations. He also proposed US collaboration with Islamabad in Kabul, focusing on counterterrorism and advancing women’s rights in Afghanistan for regional peace.
