Taking effective steps against terrorism, security forces killed 566 terrorists in 18,76 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) conducted across the country in Pakistan during the year 2023.

Security forces arrested 5,161 terrorists in these operations. The evidence of recent surge in terrorist incidents goes back to terrorist sanctuaries present in Afghanistan. During this year, security forces also killed several most wanted terrorists. Owing to the effective operations, several key commanders belonging to the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), including Gulzar Imam alias Shambay and Sarfraz Ahmed Bungulzai, joined the national mainstream by laying down their arms and leaving terrorist activities.
