LAHORE – A new initiative by Pakistan Railways is offering up to 50percent discount for disabled passengers in latest push to promote inclusivity.
Pakistan Railways announced a discount on train fares for passengers with disabilities traveling on all express and passenger trains, excluding the Green Line.
The new offer is available to those with Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) with disability info. Furthermore, attendants accompanying visually impaired passengers are also eligible for discounted fares.
Railway’s new initiative will improve accessibility and comfort of train travel for millions of PWD in South Asian nation. As part of its efforts, Railways also introduced range of services at major stations, including provision of wheelchairs, special booking counters at reservation offices, and accessible executive washrooms at select stations. Plans are in place to extend these facilities to 12 more stations in the near future.
The discount accompanied by the introduction of wheelchairs at major stations, special booking counters, and accessible washrooms, ensuring a more comfortable and independent travel experience.
