Postal fraternity celebrates World post Day on 9th October each year. Universal Postal Union (UPU) is a chain which connects people and communities. It helps to sustain the flow of information, facilitate the movement of goods across the frontiers. In order to meet the challenges brought forth by the monumental changes in the field of information technology, postal services throughout the world have transformed and adapted themselves to these technology driven changes and have survived in the ever changing competitive environment of today.
Post has five million employees force and a network of 670.000 outlets around the world. Postal sector also plays a commendable role in financial services at affordable rates aimed at narrowing the financial inclusion gap as well meeting the evolving needs of its customers irrespective of all physical barriers. Being aware of the challenges of the digital world of today, Pakistan Post has also adopted a progressive and forward looking approach to make Pakistan Post a financially viable and self-sustaining digital entity.
Our government is helping Pakistan Post as public service organization to contribute in national economy. It has a history of more than 160 years including pre-partition and present Pakistan as service providing organization having the largest network in every nook and corner of the country. Despite numerous financial constraints it is still an important custodian of the public purse and trust as its average daily financial transactions are in billion rupees.
