WASHINGTON – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will hold a crucial meeting with US President Donald Trump in Washington today (September 25), confirmed the White House.
The meeting will take place at 4:30 pm US Time at the Oval Office with reports claiming that it will be a indoor meeting and no media briefing will be held after it.
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar would also attend the meeting.
Both sides are expected to discuss regional and international issues during the meeting, which reflects deepening bilateral ties.
A day earlier, the premier held a brief yet cordial informal meeting with US President Donald Trump at the conclusion of the Arab Islamic Summit in New York.
The meeting took place in a friendly atmosphere, with both leaders exchanging pleasantries and shaking hands.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar was also present during the interaction.
Separately, during the United Nations General Assembly session, Prime Minister Sharif acknowledged Trump’s efforts toward global peace and noted the significant points raised in his address.
The premier also highlighted Trump’s role in easing tensions between Pakistan and India and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting peace and stability in the region. He emphasized Pakistan’s dedication to working with the international community to find lasting solutions to global challenges.
Meanwhile, PM Shehbaz Sharif also held a meeting with and President of Sri Lanka Mr Anura Kumara Dissanayake, on the margins of the 80th Session of UN General Assembly in New York on Wednesday.
Pakistan and Sri Lanka have reaffirmed the commitment to continue working closely to further strengthen their bilateral ties, during the years ahead.
The meeting took place in a cordial environment, reflecting the existing goodwill between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
The discussion covered wide range of areas, including high level exchanges, bilateral trade, educational cooperation, cultural exchanges, defense cooperation and regional and global issues.
Both leaders expressed satisfaction over the robust nature of Pak-Sri Lanka bilateral relations.
