The Pakistan Navy on Monday initiated a humanitarian rescue operation in the Arabian Sea to aid a merchant ship in distress.
According to media reports, naval personnel are extending urgent assistance to the crew of the vessel MV Gautam, which includes six Indian nationals and one Indonesian sailor.
Maritime Rescue and Coordination Centre (MRCC) in Mumbai alerted Pakistani authorities after the ship, travelling from Oman to India, encountered a technical malfunction at sea.
Following the distress call, the Pakistan Navy deployed a vessel of the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency, PMSA Kashmir, to conduct the rescue operation.
Officials added that the stranded crew members are being provided with essential support, including food supplies, medical care, and technical help to address the fault.
The Pakistan Navy has reaffirmed its readiness to respond promptly to emergencies at sea and provide assistance regardless of nationality.
