Malaysian minister was accompanied by Malaysia’s Ambassador to Pakistan and senior officials during the meeting, which placed the evolving regional security environment and matters of mutual interest at the centre of discussions. The talks come amid a rapidly changing regional security landscape, with both sides reviewing developments of shared concern and exploring avenues for closer coordination.

Pakistan and Malaysia reaffirmed the deep-rooted and enduring ties between the two countries, while expressing their determination to broaden bilateral engagement in areas where their interests converge.

A key message from the meeting was Islamabad’s commitment to taking Pakistan-Malaysia defence cooperation to a deeper level.

Field Marshal Asim Munir reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to strengthen defence collaboration and expand strategic engagement with Malaysia, signalling that security cooperation remains an important pillar of the bilateral relationship.

The high-level interaction underscores the continued efforts by both countries to build closer strategic coordination while expanding cooperation on issues affecting their shared interests.

Pakistan and Malaysia are moving to broaden their longstanding defence relationship, with cooperation increasingly covering military training, joint exercises, maritime security, defence production, emerging technologies and strategic coordination.

The two sides maintained defence dialogue through Joint Committee on Defence Cooperation (JCDC), established in 90s. Their armed forces also conduct professional exchanges and joint activities, including Pakistan Navy’s AMAN multinational exercises and the HarimauMarkhor counterterrorism exercise.

Defence-industrial cooperation has also gained momentum, with discussions involving co-production and defence technology. Malaysian delegations have visited Pakistani facilities including HIT, POF, GIDS and NASTP.

Both sides also explored cooperation in electronic warfare, drone systems and maritime operations, alongside broader defence science and technology collaboration.
