Reception marks Republic Day of Kazakhstan

Chairman of Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has described relations with Kazakhstan extremely important and based on mutual respect and desire for enduring partnership and Pakistan is looking forward to further strengthen bilateral ties with this great nation in business, trade, energy and other sectors.

Gilani expressed these views while addressing as Chief Guest the reception hosted by Ambassador Yerzhan Kistafin of Kazakhstan to celebrate the Republic Day of Kazakhstan.

The reception turned out to be a star-studded event as one could see a large number of prominent parliamentarians, ambassadors and diplomats, government officials and business community representatives who had gathered to greet the Kazakh ambassador on the auspicious day.

They included Minister for Board of Investment, Privatization and Communication Abdul Aleem Khan, Minister for Information & Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Special Assistant to PM on Foreign Affairs Syed Tariq Fatemi, Dean of Diplomatic Corps Turkmenistan Ambassador Atadjan Movlamov.

Yousaf Raza Gilani extended his heart-felt congratulations to the people of Kazakhstan on behalf of the people and the government of Pakistan.

Kazakhstan’s journey towards stability and development is truly inspiring and a testament to your resilience, he said adding both Pakistan and Kazakhstan are keen to expand and strengthen already strong bilateral relations and the governments of the two countries are facilitating trade and travel for the business and tourist communities.

Earlier, in his welcome address, Ambassador Yerzhan Kistafin while expressing gratitude to the guests for participating in the Republic Day festivities, said Kazakhstan was following the “Born Bold” campaign launched in 2024 and initiated by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

It is part of the broader efforts to modernize the country and to showcase the country’s dynamic, forward-thinking approach to economic growth, social progress and innovation. The campaign he said highlighted Kazakhstan’s strategic sectors such as energy, logistics, education, and tourism, positioning the country as a bold and attractive destination for global businesses, investments, and cultural exchange.

The ambassador further said that in line with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s state of the nation Address from September 1, 2023, titled “The Economic Course of a Fair Kazakhstan”, which emphasizes maintaining constructive and neighborly relations with all countries, including our South Asian neighbors, especially Pakistan, the Kazakhstan embassy has been working to develop multifaceted cooperation with your beautiful country. A significant achievement in our trade relations with Pakistan — earlier this year, is that Kazakhstan imported the first batch of the world famous Pakistani mangoes, he said adding Kazakhstan and Pakistan continued to provide mutual support at the highest level in international and regional organizations. A vivid example of this is the successful events held in Astana and Islamabad this year – the SCO Council of Heads of State and the SCO Council of Heads of Government.
