ISLAMABAD – The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has announced a significant increase in liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices for November 2026 amid looming energy crisis.
Consumers across Pakistan are facing a sharp increase in liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices, with market rates significantly exceeding officially notified prices, while an impending winter gas shortage is raising further concerns over energy supplies.
OGRA has increased the LPG price by Rs14.73 per kilogram. The price of an 11.8-kilogram domestic LPG cylinder has also been increased by Rs173.86, bringing its new official price to Rs3,470.09.
In October, LPG was available at Rs279 per kilogram, while the price of a domestic cylinder stood at Rs3,296.23.
However, actual market prices present a considerably different picture, placing an additional financial burden on consumers.
In Lahore, LPG is reportedly being sold at Rs520 per kilogram, while consumers in Karachi are paying around Rs530 per kilogram. Prices have also reached Rs520 per kilogram in Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
Meanwhile, LPG is being sold at Rs530 per kilogram in Quetta and Rs570 per kilogram in Peshawar, highlighting the gap between officially notified rates and prevailing market prices.
The situation is likely to become more challenging as Pakistan heads towards a potentially severe winter gas crisis.
QatarEnergy has further extended its force majeure on LNG supplies until December 29, creating additional difficulties for the government in securing alternative cargoes amid rising demand and tightening supply options.
The extension could further constrain LNG availability during December and January, when household gas consumption traditionally reaches its peak.
