Pakistan govt notifies big increase in employee Salaries and Pensions

ISLAMABAD – The government of Pakistan notified a significant hike in salaries and pensions for public sector employees as outlined in Budget 2024-25.

A notification shared by Finance Division said the adhoc relief allowances for employees up to grade-16 will see a 25percent rise, while those in grades 17 to 22 will receive a 20percent increase.

Additionally, pensions for federal employees will see a 15 percent increment, as proposed in the Budget 2024-25.

The notification said that these adjustments apply to all federal government employees, including armed forces personnel, civil armed forces, and civilian federal government employees.

The adhoc relief allowances are taxable and will be paid during regular absences and preparation for retirement, but not during extraordinary leaves.

Also, the allowance does not affect calculations for pensions, gratuities, or house rent, nor is it provided during employees’ foreign assignments, resuming only upon their return and reappointment.
