ISLAMABAD – The federal government has approved the construction of a new N-15 highway, which will connect Mansehra to the China border, offering a modern, safe, and high-speed route.
This project is expected to serve as an alternative to the existing Karakoram Highway (KKH).
The decision was made during a meeting of the National Highway Authority (NHA), chaired by the Federal Minister for Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan.
The new highway will link several key areas, including Mansehra, Naran, Jhalakand, and Chilas, significantly reducing travel time.
The improved and safer route will ensure year-round transportation, facilitating smoother travel regardless of weather conditions.
In his remarks, Minister Abdul Aleem Khan highlighted that the N-15 highway will play a vital role in boosting trade, tourism, and defense, describing it as a unique and strategic project.
The speed limit on the highway will range between 60 to 80 kilometers per hour, making it suitable for both commercial and tourist traffic.
The entire development will be carried out under a public-private partnership, ensuring efficient and timely execution.
He emphasized that the project is being designed with future needs in mind, with an ambitious goal to complete the highway within two years.
This initiative is expected to enhance regional connectivity and contribute to economic growth by improving access to the northern areas of Pakistan and facilitating trade between Pakistan and China.
