Pakistan and the European Union (EU) on Monday signed financing agreements worth €65 million for projects focused on investment, energy resilience, rule of law and the business environment.
The agreements were signed by EU Ambassador Raimundas Karoblis and Economic Affairs Division Secretary Muhammad Humair Karim.
The funding will support three programmes under the EU’s 2021-2027 cooperation framework.
One initiative aims to facilitate investment and improve financial planning and taxation, while another will promote renewable energy in off-grid rural communities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and encourage private-sector participation.
The third programme will strengthen access to justice and legal services in KP and Balochistan and support alternative and commercial dispute resolution in Punjab and Sindh.
Karim welcomed the EU’s continued support, while Karoblis said the agreements reflected the bloc’s commitment to Pakistan’s economic development, investment goals and sustainable resource management.
