ISLAMABAD – Pakistan is making stronger mark on global business map, breaking into Top 20 among 101 economies. With impressive 86.64 score, the country’s improved Business Entry ranking signals growing momentum toward a more streamlined and business-friendly economy.
The South Asian nation secured 17th position among 101 economies in the Business Entry category, scoring 86.64, as regulators roll out a fresh set of measures aimed at making company registration and the broader business environment more transparent and digitally connected.
Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) approved several key measures to further improve the country’s performance in the Business Ready (B-READY) assessment and strengthen Pakistan’s standing among global economies. Under the existing digital system, information relating to company registrations and post-registration changes is automatically made available to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), helping streamline the flow of corporate information between institutions.
SECP, FBR and Board of Investment (BOI) will also enhance cooperation for the exchange of additional information, while a dedicated link for information on environmental requirements and permits will be provided through the SECP website. SECP has made information on government support programmes for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and women entrepreneurs available online.
The regulator also released gender-disaggregated statistics on newly registered companies, covering male and female shareholders, directors, chief executives and beneficial owners.
Going forward, SECP plans to develop and publish further gender-based datasets covering company directors and beneficial owners, providing greater visibility into participation in the corporate sector.
According to SECP, the measures are designed to improve transparency, access to information and digital connectivity among government institutions.
With Pakistan already ranking 17th out of 101 economies in Business Entry, the regulator expects the latest initiatives to provide further momentum to the country’s Business Ready performance and overall ranking, potentially strengthening the environment for entrepreneurs and businesses looking to enter the formal economy.
