LAHORE – Pakistan secured dominant 57-run victory over Bangladesh in the second T20 International at the Gaddafi Stadium on Friday, taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
Shaheens piled up 201 for 6 in their 20 overs, thanks to blistering half-centuries from Sahibzada Farhan and Hasan Nawaz. Farhan smashed 74 off 41 balls, while Nawaz finished unbeaten on 51 from 26. Mohammad Haris also contributed a quick 41 off 25 deliveries.
In reply, Bangladesh started brightly, reaching 38 without loss in the first three overs, but their chase unraveled quickly after early breakthroughs from Haris Rauf and Faheem Ashraf. The visitors collapsed to 77 for 7 by the 10th over.
Tanzim Hasan Sakib resisted with a valiant 50 off 31 balls, but the rest of the batting lineup failed to offer support. Bangladesh were bowled out for 144 in 19 overs. Abrar Ahmed starred with the ball for Pakistan, taking 3 for 19, while six other bowlers chipped in with a wicket each.
With this win, Pakistan wrapped up the series ahead of the final match on Sunday, also scheduled at Gaddafi Stadium.
Pakistani skipper Salman Agha said team aims to post strong total to put pressure on the visiting side. “Our plan is to set a competitive score and then challenge Bangladesh to chase it down,” Agha said.
Bangladesh skipper Litton Das said he was comfortable bowling first and hoped for pitch conditions similar to the previous game. “The wicket was good in the last match. We need to perform well in all departments to compete here,” he added.
Shaheens and Bangla Tigers made one change in their lineups as Fakhar Zaman has been replaced with Sahibzada Farhan. Bangladesh brought in Mehidy Hasan Miraz for opener Parvez Hossain Emon.
