SHANGHAI – The Consulate of Pakistan in Shanghai, in a landmark cultural initiative, successfully presented its maiden fashion show, “Silk Road Elegance: Two Nations, One Runway,”. The prestigious event, directed by Rawayiat , transformed the runway into a modern bridge of friendship, showcasing the pinnacle of Pakistani fashion and jewelry design to an esteemed audience in Shanghai. The event was brought to life in collaboration with key partners: Challenge Fashion (Pvt) Ltd, Lamp Network Technology Education Ltd (HK), Winza Ltd, and the Combine Group.
His Excellency, Mr. Khalil Hashmi, the Ambassador of Pakistan to China, inaugurated the evening with inspiring remarks, underscoring the significance of the event in strengthening the deep-rooted Pakistan-China relationship through the universal language of fashion and design.
The runway came alive with the collections of three of Pakistan’s leading high-end fashion designers and one renowned jewelry brand, each telling a unique story of heritage and innovation. The journey began with Maheen Khan’s elegant fusion of traditional Pakistani cultural elements with modern aesthetics. Her collection, inspired by vibrant truck art and luxury couture, masterfully blended Eastern and Western sensibilities. Hailing from Sindh, Moazzam Abbasi presented a captivating collection deeply rooted in the rich Ajrak tradition. Crafted from pure cotton with organic vegetable dyes, his pieces reimagined this ancient heritage through a contemporary lens. The audience was mesmerized by the brilliance of Winza, a Pakistani jewelry brand celebrated for its high-quality bridal jewellery. The showcase featured exquisite emeralds from Pakistan’s Swat Valley and the brand’s signature High Jewellery and rare gemstones. The finale celebrated eco-conscious fashion with The Factory Edit’s philosophy of “Upcycled | Handcrafted | Unique.” The collection presented timeless, one-of-a-kind pieces crafted from waste, highlighting a commitment to reducing environmental impact while embracing individuality.
Celebrities, diplomats, and media representatives attended the show, applauding it as a landmark in fashion diplomacy. With mesmerizing lights, live traditional Pakistani music, and an audience of global fashion enthusiasts, the night celebrated creativity, friendship, and shared heritage.
The evening also featured reflections from Mr. Huang Weiguo, Chairman of Challenge Fashion Textile (Pvt) Ltd, who shared his insights on building bridges through fashion. Mr. Adnan Ansari, the Director of the show from Rawayiat, provided a glimpse into the creative vision behind the historic production. In his concluding vote of thanks, His Excellency Mr. Shehzad Ahmad, Consul General of Pakistan in Shanghai, expressed profound gratitude to the designers, partners, models, and the entire team for making the inaugural event a resounding success.
