Pakistan Day marked by country’s embassies across globe

Pakistan Day was marked by country’s embassies across the globe with national fervour and enthusiasm.

Pakistani embassies in Bangladesh, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Singapore, South Korea, France, Iran, United States, Vietnam, Tajikistan, Japan, Azerbaijan and Belgium celebrated the national day.

On the occasion, the ambassadors and high commissioners in embassies hoisted Pakistani flags, national anthems were played and messages of President and Prime Minister were read out.

BEIJING—To commemorate the 84th anniver-sary of Pakistan Day with national spirit and great fervor, the Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing hosted a ceremony on Saturday, attended by the Embassy officials, families and members of the Pakistan community in China.

Pakistan Day commemorates the passing of the Lahore Resolution on March 23, 1940, when the All-India Muslim League demanded a separate homeland for the Muslims of the British Indian Empire.

The ceremony commenced with the recitation of verses from Holy Quran. Pakistan Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi raised the national flag and hoisted it. with the invigorating tune of the national anthem.

During the ceremony, messages from the President, Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif and Foreign Minister, Muhammad Ishaq Dar were read out to the audience, which underscored the significance of Pakistan Resolution of 23rd March 1940, describing it as the turning point in the struggle for the creation of Pakistan.

The messages paid rich tribute to the country’s founding leaders for their sacrifices, and highlighted the rich history of contributions made by Pakistan towards international peace, security and stability.

The leadership also expressed solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, acknowledging their unwavering resolve in the face of the state sponsored terrorism unleashed by the Indian Occupation Forces.

In his address, Ambassador Khalil Hashmi called for celebrating the National Day by making a renewed commitment toward the progress, development and prosperity of Pakistan.

While emphasizing the enduring bond of China-Pakistan friendship, the Ambassador highlighted strategic trust, mutual respect and solidarity as fundamental aspects of bilateral relationship.

He also appreciated the role of Pakistan Community in China in solidifying the partnership between the two nations.

Abu Dhabi —Pakistan Embassy to the United Arab Emirates organised an event to commemorate Pakistan’s National Day. The event was attended by Pakistani community members including women and children as well as embassy officials. The ceremony was inaugurated with the flag hoisting by Ambassador Faisal NiazTirmizi and playing of the National Anthem. National Day messages by the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan were read out. A group of Pakistani students sang millinaghmas with passion and enthusiasm.

Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Tirmizi recalled the long and heroic struggle and sacrifices of the Muslims of sub-continent, resulting in Pakistan’s independence. The Ambassador emphasised the need of unity, tolerance and harmony in the society to counter formidable economic challenges and making Pakistan a stable and prosperous country. Emphasising the value of independence and freedom, he reiterated Pakistan’s principled position for the realization of the right to self determination of the people of IIOJK and Palestine who have remained victim of aggression and violence by the occupation forces for dec-ades.

The Ambassador highlighted the significance of strong bilateral relations between Pakistan and the UAE and underscored the important role played by Pakistanis in the progress and prosperity of the UAE. He mentioned that Pakistanis residing in the UAE have made huge contribution in Pakistan’s economy in overcoming economic challenges.

Availing the opportunity, he also called upon the community members to remain valuable asset of the UAE society and continue to abide by UAE’s laws, rules as well as norms.

Tehran—Ambassador of Pakistan in Tehran Muhammad Mudassir Tipu on Saturday witnessed the video mapping on the eve of Pakistan Day as well as Nowruz festival at Burj Azadi (Azadi tower) Tehran.

This is for the first time in the history of Pakistan -Iran relations that such a video mapping is displayed. The national flag of Pakistan was illuminated along with the Iranian flag to depict close and brotherly relations between two neighbours.

The national anthems of both the countries were played. The pictures of national monuments of Pakistan were displayed along with traditional instrumental tunes.

Speaking at the occasion, Ambassador Mudassir said that it was a historic moment in relations of both the brotherly countries who had share culture, history and traditions. Such events help deepen ties amongst people and cultures, he added. A large number of Pakistani diaspora and Iranians enjoyed the occasion.

London—As per tradition, the Westminster Abbey organized a Special Evensong to mark the Pakistan Day today evening. The Evensong was sung by the Choir.

Special prayers were offered for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan and its people as well as for the continued friendship between the two countries. A large number of British citizens, Churchgoers and officials from Pakistan High Commission attended the event.

The highlight of the occasion was that Pakistan’s Flag kept flying for the whole day on the north tower of Westminster Abbey. It remained the focus of attention of the tourists who gather around this iconic church every day from across the world.

Each year, the Westminster Abbey invites the High Commission to a Special Evensong on Paki-stan Day to pray for the nation, its leaders, and people.

The Westminster Abbey is a royal church offering daily services for all and a UNESCO World Heritage Site with over a thousand years of history. Every year it welcomes over one million visitors. Thousands attend its daily services.
