Pakistan assures full support to develop agriculture sector of Niger

A high level parliamentary delegation led by H.E. Mr. Seini Oumarou, President of National Assembly of Niger is visiting Pakistan at the invitation of Honorable Speaker, National Assembly of Pakistan to strengthen the growing cooperation of economic partnership between Pakistan and Niger.

In this connection, Niger delegation headed by H.E. Mr. Seini Oumarou, President of National Assembly of Pakistan visited National Agricultural Research Centre (NARC) on Tuesday to witness the agri.

research activities carried out under the centre. Niger delegation intended to learn from Pakistan’s experience in improving agriculture, particularly the Seeds Productions.

Syed Fakhar Imam, Federal Minister for M/o National Food Security & Research participated as Chief Guest and hold discussions with the delegates and offered / assured full support of Govt. of Pakistan to develop and strengthen agriculture sector of Niger through mutual agreement.

Dr. Muhammad Azeem Khan, Chairman PARC one the occasion told that the areas of cooperation agreed by the both parties are exchange of elite genetic resources of economically important cereal crops, fruits, vegetables and livestock, training of Niger scientists in tissue culture technology, PARC has developed desert agriculture model on 200 acres, Niger scientists may visit that model and replicate it, if found feasible, Value addition projects including food processing, training of Niger scientists in seed technology, collaboration / joint ventures in fabricating farm machinery and high efficiency irrigation equipment, as Pakistan has one the best irrigation system in the world, Pakistani scientists may train Niger scientists in the areas relating to irrigation.
