Pak-China health cooperation in high gear, says Chinese diplomat


Chinese Acting Consul General Peng Zhengwu said China always aims to incentivize social and medial cooperation between China and Pakistan. Chinese Consulate General in Lahore is making all out efforts to ensure health facilities with the passion of brotherhood and affability.

According to Gwadar Pro on Saturday, he expressed these remarks on the occasion of inaugurating of upgrading of Neonatology Unit and Central Oxygensystem at Lady Aitchison Hospital carried out by the Chinese special grantin collaboration with the Institute of International Relations and Media Research (IIRMR).

In attendance of IIRMR Chairman Muhammad Mehdi, Lady Aitchison Hospital MS Dr. M. Iqbal Shahid and Neonatology Department In-Charge Aliya Batool, “it is my honor to do something for the hospital. I hope the project will beremembered as a gesture of friendship between China and Pakistan,” the Chinese Acting Consul General said. “It is an exchange of love between our people. It is based on mutual trust and respect. Our friendship is time tested and will continue in the future. Under the framework of CPEC, more and more projects will benefit the local society. All this will consolidate our relations of all-weather strategic cooperative partnership,” he said.

IIRMR Chairman Muhammad Mehdi said that the Chinese Consulate General in Lahore’s role in extending humanitarian assistance and help particularly in the medical and health arena is very laudable. “It will help synergize people-to-people cooperation between China and Pakistan,” he added.

Lady Aitchison Hospital MS Dr. M. Iqbal Shahid said that the 150-year-oldhistorical Lady Aitchison Hospital with 200 beds manage deliveries of around1000 babies in a month. “It direly needed the upgrading of Neonatology Unit Central Oxygen system over the last many years.

At this critical situation China came forward with donation and fulfilledthe demand of renovation of Neonatology Unit and Central Oxygen system in the hospital that will help mitigate the incidence of mortality of new born babies,” he added.
