The Ambassador called on Janine Alm Ericson State Secretary to the Minister for International Development, today.
The discussions covered bilateral relations and international issues of mutual interest.
The State Secretary welcomed the ambassador saying that Pakistan and Sweden enjoy longstanding friendly relations based on mutual respect and understanding.
She talked to him about the Swedish feminist foreign policy as well as its approach towards sustainability,equity and democratic norms.
The ambassador said our common approach on major issues provides a strong basis for our cooperation.
He said that Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with Sweden as an important country of the EU and Nordic region.
He appreciated Sweden’s active role as the chair of OSCE (The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe) and it’s policies foe promotion of human rights and for a peaceful resolution of regional conflicts.
The State Secretary said that Sweden values its relations with Pakistan and would like to further develop ties in various areas.
The Ambassador briefed the State Secretary on the environment friendly policies of Pakistan and efforts to address the global challenges of climate change.
He also mentioned that Pakistan wants to develop its economy in a sustainable manner and promote renewable energies.
He informed her that Pakistan had hosted the 2021 World Environment Day and the Prime Minister had reiterated Pakistan’s commitment towards these issues.
The State Secretary appreciated Pakistan’s efforts on environment friendly policies and briefed the ambassador on Swedish hosting of the Stockholm 50+ Conference in 2022.— PR
