The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has called upon the people to observe utmost precautions on Eid ul Fitr by staying at home and social distancing besides celebrating the religious festival with simplicity.
“Chief Minister Mahmood Khan wants people to celebrate this Eid with simplicity due to the Covid-19 pandemic”.
Advisor to CM KP on Information Ajmal Wazir said while addressing a press conference here at Civil Secretariat on Thursday.
Wazir said that for bilateral trade with Afghanistan, it has been decided to keep the Torkham border open for 24 hours six days in a week for all trucks under SOPs. In the last few days, after the opening of the border for 24 hours, trade has been increased tremendously, adding that with the consent of both the countries, Saturday has been reserved for pedestrian border crossings.
He said that Pakistanis returning home from Afghanistan through Torkham border were being quarantined in Khyber district. Ajmal Wazir said that the number of deaths recorded in KP was higher compared to other provinces, adding that the KP’s recovery rate was 31 per cent. Giving details about the resources designated for Convid-19 patients, Ajmal Wazir said there were 200 isolation centers with a capacity of 5,598 beds in KP.
The KP Government had on Wednesday announced that all retail shops across the province will remain during the Eid days, a decision was taken in the light of the Supreme Court of Pakistan orders.
“All retail shops will remain on Friday, Saturday, Sunday ahead of Eid,” Information advisor had said adding that the shops will also remain open during the Eid-ul-Fitr days and that the bakeries and home delivery service will continue after 5 pm across the province.
A notification was also issued in this regard.
Ajmal Wazir Thursday reiterated that precautionary measures should be strictly followed on the occasion of Eid ul fitr and appealed to philanthropist to help needy and poor people on the occasion of Eid.
