ISLAMABAD — Pakistan Air Force Group Captain Asim Tariq, who embraced martyrdom while courageously attempting to rescue a woman in distress in Islamabad, was laid to rest with full military honours.
Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu led mourners in paying tribute to the fallen officer, hailing his sacrifice as a symbol of the Pakistan Air Force’s courage, selfless service and unwavering commitment to protecting the nation and its people.
The brave son of soil embraced martyrdom while attempting to rescue a woman in distress in Islamabad, was laid to rest with full military honours on Tuesday, as military leaders and citizens gathered to pay tribute to his extraordinary act of courage.
Funeral prayers for the martyred officer were attended by Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, senior Pakistan Air Force officers, airmen and a large number of civilians, who came together to honour his life, service and ultimate sacrifice. The officer was accorded full military honours in recognition of his exceptional bravery, selfless devotion and unwavering commitment to duty after he lost his life while intervening to protect an innocent citizen.
Paying tribute to the fallen officer, Air Chief Marshal Sidhu described Group Captain Asim Tariq Shaheed’s sacrifice as a reflection of the highest traditions of the Pakistan Air Force and the Armed Forces of Pakistan. He said the officer’s heroic actions demonstrated extraordinary courage and an unshakeable commitment to public service.
The Air Chief stressed that by giving his life in an effort to save a woman in danger, the martyred officer exemplified the Pakistan Air Force’s enduring resolve to protect not only the country’s borders but also the lives, dignity and honour of its citizens.
