The Punjab Assembly, presided by Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, on Wednesday unanimously approved a resolution to condemn a report “Suffocation of the Faithful” purported to be pro-Qadiani, presented in the British Parliament and termed it a conspiracy against Pakistan and the Muslims.
The resolution was tabled by Pakistan Muslim League MPA Abdullah Warraich and was supported by Sajid Ahmad Khan Bhatti, N-League MPAs – Rana Mohammad Iqbal Khan, Samiullah Khan and Malik Ahmad Khan and People’s Party MPA Syed Hsassan Murtaza.
The resolution read: “We strongly condemn the report in favour of Qadianis prepared by few members of the British Parliament and issued by All Party Parliamentary Group for Ahmadiya.” Quoting the report, the resolution said: “Oppression, exploitation and suppression on the Qadianis being done under the patronage of the State of Pakistan.
In the report, the British Government has been demanded that aid to Pakistan should be linked with the approval of the recommendations made in this report, through this report Pakistan has been demanded that laws of Pakistan should be changed in favour of the Qadianis and they should be given complete freedom for preaching in the educational institutions whereas in this report grave charges have been leveled against Pakistan but it does not include stance of Pakistan.”
The Punjab Assembly through the resolution condemned the report and termed it a heinous conspiracy against Muslims of Pakistan as well as Muslim Ummah.
The resolution demanded that the Pakistan Government and the Foreign Office should immediately get this report withdrawn from the British Parliament so that this conspiracy against Muslim Ummah is completely foiled, which is in fact a conspiracy against sovereignty of Pakistan.
The resolution further said that this House of the Punjab Assembly strongly condemns highly deplorable act of desecration of the Holy Quran and blasphemy of the Holy Prophet in France and Sweden as these incidents have hurt sentiments of Muslims throughout the world. Western world do not realize how the Muslims feel about desecration of Holy Quran and blasphemy of the Holy Prophet.
It has been demanded in the resolution that for curbing this mischief (fitna), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Pakistan Government should raise voice against it forthwith, get this report withdrawn from the British Parliament whereas protest should also be lodged with the governments of France and Sweden over matter of desecration of Holy Quran and blasphemy of the Holy Prophet. The resolution also demanded that the government should also take measures for stopping of such incidents in the future.
