Over Rs17,523m tax collected in two months: Mukesh

A meeting of Sindh Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department was held under the chairmanship of Provincial Minister for Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department & Parliamentary Affairs & Food Mukesh Kumar Chawla.

The meeting was also attended by Secretary Excise & Taxation and Narcotics Control Department Raja Khurram Shehzad, Director Generals Munir Ahmed Zardari, Haji Saleem Bhutto and other officers.

Details of tax collection from July 2021 to August 2021 were presented in the meeting. The meeting was informed that a total of Rs.17523.093 million has been received in the current financial year as against Rs.12827.939 million in the same period of the previous financial year.

The meeting was further informed that Rs.1636.136 million was collected under motor vehicle tax and Rs.14690.675 million under infrastructure cess while Rs.255.216 million was collected under property tax and Rs.118.884 million under professional tax.

According to the briefing, Rs 6.386 million was received in cotton fee and Rs 3.581 million in entertainment duty.

Addressing the meeting, Provincial Minister for Excise & Taxation and Narcotics Control Department & Parliamentary Affairs & Food Mukesh Kumar Chawla said that the overall situation of tax collection was satisfactory but more efforts should be made to collect property tax.

He further said that the officers should perform their duties diligently and honestly and the tax depositers should pay their due taxes immediately.
