Historic ‘Hijra delegation’ to open new avenues of cooperation with Pakistan

Zubair Qrueshi

Ambassador of Ethiopia Jemal Beker Abdula on Tuesday while addressing a press briefing which he called ‘historic’ announced a new chapter in the diplomatic relations between Pakistan and his country as a delegation of important chambers of commerce and industries of Pakistan was all set to leave for Addis Ababa on a six day visit March 5-10 to explore business and trade cooperation between the two countries.

“More than 70 businessmen have signed up for the upcoming historic trade delegation flying to Addis Ababa on Sunday, March 5 and we are going to make history as the number of delegates we are expecting may cross the mark of 100 before the deadline for registration i.e. March 1,” said the ambassador.

This is a moment of realizing the dream I saw when I assumed the charge some seven months ago as the first head of the Ethiopian embassy in Islamabad, he said. Given our strong bond of friendship with Pakistan and the reciprocity of the Pakistani government and the business community I hope and expect more such exchanges and visits between the two sides, he said.
