Punjab government has received more than 21,700 applications for its Global IT Certifications Program since the initiative was launched in September 2024.
The development was discussed at a review meeting chaired by Punjab Information Technology Board Chairman Faisal Yousaf and attended by DG e-Governance Sajid Latif, Director Skills Development Wing Chaudhary Ahmad Islam and other senior officials.
Officials told the meeting that eligibility verification had been completed for over 12,000 applicants through an online portal developed by PITB, while payment verification had been finalised for more than 1,600 candidates.
The reimbursement process is underway following the verification of over 1,400 international certifications. So far, 1,018 successful candidates have received complete reimbursement of their course fees directly into their bank accounts.
The Global IT Certifications Program is a flagship Punjab government initiative designed to provide young people with internationally recognised digital skills.
Faisal Yousaf said the programme was focused on developing globally relevant skills among Punjab’s youth. He added that, in response to the strong interest from applicants and the increasing requirements of the IT sector, the programme had been expanded to cover 125 internationally recognised certifications.
