Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar said that the era of handling institutions with remote control has passed and now the institutions are independent. “PDM wants decisions at their own whims rather than on justice. PDM’s protest outside ECP is just a matter of their political needs.”
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of Journal of Pakistan Society of Internal Medicine at Governor’s House on Tuesday, Governor Chaudhry Sarwar said that the opposition’s plan to pressurize institutions will fail once again. The healthcare facilities provided by the Medical universities to the public through telemedicine centers are commendable.
Provincial Minister for Higher Education Yasir Sarfraz Humayun, Secretary Health Capt (r) Usman, Vice Chancellor, University of Health Sciences, Prof Dr Javed Akram, Vice Chancellor, King Edward Medical University, Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal, Dr Sumia Iqtdar, Prof. Azizur Rehman and others were also present on the occasion.
Talking to media, the governor said that the present government is pursuing a policy of purging the institutions from political interference completely. The opposition has been pursuing a policy of protest for a long time and every time they hope to overthrow of the government. But their hopes of overthrowing the government will be dashed many on time by 2023.
Replying to a journalist’s question, Ch Sarwar said that the opposition wants to keep the political atmosphere heated up for its survival. He maintained that PTI under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan is as strong as a rock. There is no doubt that PTI has the confidence of the people and we are in power due to Prime Minister Imran Khan’s struggle.
Ch Sarwar while criticizing the opposition, said that the government wants to take the country forward while the opposition wants to take it back, he added. Governor Punjab said that there will be no political discrimination in the Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority. We will work hard to provide clean drinking water to the people in all constituencies of Punjab. We have further expedited the projects of Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority, he added.
Prof Dr Javed Akram said that at present only 113 scientific journals are being published in Pakistan while 395 scientific journals are being published in the United Kingdom. In the field of medicine, only 3 Pakistani journals have an impact factor. For the first time under the auspices of UHS, a master’s degree program in medical journalism is being launched. On this occasion, Dr Sumia Iqtdar gave a briefing on the initiatives taken by the Pakistan Society of Internal Medicine.
Earlier, MNA from PTI Sadaqat Abbasi called on Governor Punjab Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar at Governor’s House, Lahore.
