Opposition parties have agreed in principle to table a ‘No confidence’ motion against the present government, well-placed sources in opposition circles confided to Pakistan Observer on Wednesday.

They termed it a major breakthrough for the opposition parties since in the past political parties in Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) had parted ways due to difference of opinion on various issues.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had also started its own flight on political issues and Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was trying to constitute such a body within parliament that could be used to unite opposition parties on a single platform without PDM.

But a couple of days back all political parties including PPP and ANP were seen sitting together in the Opposition leader’s office.

All the party leaders has agreed to use PDM as a platform for future strategy. It is worth mentioning here that PML-N Chief Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Jamiat Ulema Islam Fazl Ur Rehman (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazl Ur Rehman did not agree in the past to table No-confidence motion against the government.

But now they have also given consent to move forward against the government. No confidence motions will be tabled in Punjab and in the Centre.

In Islamabad, the Opposition will demand to send Prime Minister Imran Khan home and somebody else from within PTI should be made Prime Minister to run the affairs. Then PDM will demand after some time to hold general elections.

PPP Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar was of the view that in Punjab PTI was facing a situation like Balochistan actually he was signaling towards difference within PTI in Punjab.

He claimed that it was very much possible that the leader of the Parliamentary party could be changed due to deep differences within the party.

Unfortunately, PTI is not enjoying a very heavy majority in federal or in Punjab. So political circles are eyeing that like Baluchistan where Speaker Assembly was made Chief Minister, in Punjab, Ch Pervez Elahi Speaker Punjab Assembly who was a very successful Chief Minister in the past could be made Chief Minister Punjab once again.

Tabling ‘No confidence’ move would be a very soft method to bring change in the parliament. Using this tool no long marches would be required and gathering peoples on the road.

Opposition circles were of the opinion that it was yet to be decided by the PDM that the No Confidence motion would be started from Punjab or Islamabad.

However sourced privy to the development said that this motion would be started from Punjab and then in Islamabad.
