Additional Chief Secretary (Administrative Secretary of Overseas Pakistanis Commission) Shaukat Ali chaired a meeting held to review progress on District Overseas Pakistanis Committees of Gujranwala Division via video link here in Civil Secretariat on Tuesday.
Vice Chairperson Overseas Pakistanis Commission Ch. Waseem Akhtar and Director General OPC Ms. Naila Baqir briefed the chair in detail about the resolved, referred back and pending complaints of Gujranwala Division and overall performance and the problems faced in complaints redressal mechanism of the Commission.
Director-General Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab Ms. Naila Baqir also shared the ongoing proceedings and latest statistics showing progress of the complaints.
Out of 2,557 complaints, total number of complaints resolved from 6 districts of Gujranwala Division i.e. Gujranwala, Sialkot, Gujrat, Narowal, Mandi Bahudin, and Hafizabad is 1880 which makes the resolved rate 74% in the Gujranwala Division.
It is also pertinent to mention that as per OPC Portal 19970 complaints have been received so far out of which 12223 complaints have been resolved because of the hard work of the Vice Chairperson Ch. Waseem Akhtar and his team working in the commission. The resolved rate of the complaints has reached from 37% in the beginning of this year to 61% now.
It is the commitment of my team that we have been able to resolve over 6000 complaints during short span of last 18 months retrieving the property worth Rs. 7 Billion, Vice Chairperson OPC added.
Additional Chief Secretary (Administrative Secretary of Overseas Pakistanis Commission) Shaukat Ali while chairing the review meeting said that the marvelous work done by the commission is commendable and expeditious disposal of the complaints of the overseas Pakistanis by the commission is also satisfactory. Overseas Pakistanis are backbone to the economy of this country and early resolution of their problems is among the top priorities of current PTI-led Government.
The best performing Deputy Commissioners and District Police Officers shall be rewarded with certificates while on the other hand, the officers not complying with the directions shall receive disciplinary action against them.
