One dies, 21 injured in two road accidents

A person died and three others sustained injuries in collision between two vehicles on motorway here on Monday.

According to Motorway Police, the accident occurred on Motorway near Samundri Interchange in Faisalabad where a speeding vehicle rammed into a Mehran car.

The officials informed that the collision took place due to speeding and driver of the vehicle responsible for the accident fled the scene.

Resultantly, one person identified as 55-year-old Yameen died on the spot while three others including: 51-year-old Sharif, 56-year-old Liaqat Ali and 43-year-old Yousaf Ghauri sustained injuries.

The motorway police carried out rescue operation and shifted the dead body and the injured persons to hospital where condition of one of the injured persons is stated to be critical.

Meanwhile, as many as 18 passengers sustained injuries when a passenger bus overturned due to speeding here on Monday.

Rescue 1122 officials informed that the accident occurred when a Lahore-bound passenger bus, coming from Narowal, overturned due to reckless driving on Motorway near Kala Shah Kaku Interchange. As a result of accident, 18 persons sustained injuries.

Maqbool Gujjar and his supporters resorted to heavy jubilation firing in Gujranwala after winning the election in Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly constituency LA-35.

According to details, the incident took place in Ladhewala area of Gujranawala, where Maqbool Gujjar and supporters of former MNA Mian Tariq resorted to heavy aerial firing while violating the law and government restrictions.

Heavy firing was carried out with sophisticated weapons and the area resounded with crackling of bullets and fear and panic spread among the people.

On the other hand, the Gujranwala Police did take any action to stop the firing and failed to arrest any accused involved in the incident.
