A credible American journalist and commentator has claimed that the world was at the verge of a nuclear holocaust as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is pressing US President Donald Trump to launch a nuclear strike on Iran, warning that Washington could be only days away from taking the unprecedented step. In a detailed account published on X, Tucker Carlson said the target would be Pickax Mountain in Central Iran, where Israeli intelligence claims the Iranian Government has restarted its nuclear enrichment program. It is also alleged that no conventional weapon in the American arsenal can penetrate 300 feet of solid granite to destroy the tunnels where enrichment is supposedly taking place and that the only military option is a nuclear strike.
In view of the scale and nature of the devastation, no excuse can justify nuclear attack against any country including Iran. Otherwise as well how on earth Iran could resume nuclear enrichment within months of claims made by the United States and Israel to have eliminated the Iranian nuclear threat. Tehran will be justified even if it has an active military oriented nuclear programme because of constant nuclear bullying by the United States and the Jewish State. The Iranian threat is perceived but the threat for Iranian security and integrity is real in the face of repeated reports emanating from the US itself about the possibility of action replay of Nagasaki and Hiroshima. What a tragedy that possibilities of a nuclear aggression are being explored by President Donald Trump who has been taking credit for his role in preventing a nuclear war in South Asia in May 2025! The latest report about the US designs must not be ignored on the assumption that it could be a pressure tactic to gain concessions from Iran during diplomatic engagement that is going on due to perseverance of Pakistani and Qatari mediators as the US has a track record of bombing Japan during the World War-II. However, it is for the leaders of public opinion and people of the United States to ensure their leader was not trapped by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to commit a serious crime against humanity for the sake of his (Israeli PM) petty domestic political gains. The world has still not forgotten what the US did in Japan way back in August 1945 and repeat of the blunder will bring more harm than supposed benefits to Washington. Resumption of nuclear enrichment is a false excuse to commit nuclear aggression whereas the fact remains both the United States and Israel are frustrated over their failure to bring Iranians on their knees and the plan seems to be motivated by their desire to break the will of Iranian people and camouflage their own weaknesses. Tucker Carlson’s report means the nuclear clock is ticking and the international community should be ready to hear some shocking news in coming days if members of the civilized world kept on watching the situation as a silent spectator. The UN and the world community should take immediate measures to prevent the United States and Israel from making Iran a guinea pig to test the latest nuclear bombs in their arsenals as such an action will bring destruction and devastation in Iran and beyond for decades. A nuclear detonation in or around major urban centres and military installations would cause massive thermal radiation, severe blast waves and immediate mass fatalities from firestorms and prompt radiation. The blasts would wipe out Iran’s electrical grid, telecommunications, hospitals and emergency services besides contaminating the Persian Gulf and surrounding regions, destroying regional ecosystems, food supplies and domestic water treatment capabilities. Depending on proximity of the blast and wind direction, a number of countries including Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, the UAE, Iraq, Pakistan and India could become victims of atmospheric fallout within days. There could be virtual closure of the Strait of Hormuz for an indefinite period, causing disruptions for global trade. With or without nuclear attack, Iran is threatening to target key installations in neighbouring Gulf countries in high-intensity retaliatory strikes. It is also a foregone conclusion that the US will stand isolated internationally and global non-proliferation norms would be reshaped. There are also apprehensions that powers that believe in ‘might is right’ like India might try to exploit the situation and this could trigger the Third World War.
