In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah on Sunday strongly responded to chief minister of Indian state of Haryana, Manohar Lal Khattar’s remark over the issue of people offering namaz in open and said that Jammu and Kashmir never merged “with this India”.

With several Hindu outfits objecting to Friday prayers being offered in open in Gurgaon, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar recently said that the practice of offering namaz in the open “will not be tolerated”.

Responding to Khattar’s statement, Omar Ab-dullah said, “It would have been fine if this restric-tion was on every religion but policy of pick & choose shows a particular religion is on target. J&K didn’t merge with this India.

“The practice of offering namaz here (Gurgaon) in open spaces will not be tolerated… But we all will sit to find an amicable solution,” the chief min-ister told reporters in Gurgaon, responding to a question on the objections raised by several right-wing outfits.

Over the past some months, members of some Hindu outfits have been gathering at sites where the Muslim community offers ‘namaz’ in open space, and raising “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Jai Shri Ram” slogans.—KMS
