Ambassador Samir Bakr, Assistant Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for Palestine and Al-Quds Affairs, met, at the headquarters of the OIC General Secretariat, with the envoy of the European Union (EU), Mr. Sven Koopmans. The two sides discussed the latest developments and the Israeli violations in the occupied Palestinian territory.

During the meeting, Ambassador Bakr stressed the importance of the political and economic support provided by the EU to the State of Palestine and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) and underscored the need to exercise pressure on Israel to stop its violations and attacks on the Palestinian people and its holy sites.

For his part, Mr. Koopmans affirmed the EU’s full support for the vision of a two-state solution and the need to exert more efforts to revive the peace process on the basis of international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.—PR
