KARACHI –  Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said that a case was registered against the officials involved in the incident of Dr. Shah Nawaz- blasphemy suspect.

The chief minister said the stance taken by the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) is perhaps unprecedented in the world.

“The PPP has never stopped peaceful protesters,” said Sindh CM while talking to the reporters on the anniversary of the Karsaz tragedy on Friday.

CM Murad said that a case has been filed against the officers related to Dr. Shah Nawaz’s situation.

He further remarked that there were individuals at the tolerance march who were chanting inappropriate slogans, yet he personally contacted them, apologized, and initiated an inquiry. He emphasized that participants of the tolerance march should also adhere to the law.

Reflecting on the past, he recalled that it has been 17 years since they come to honor the martyrs of Karsaz every year.

He recounted how, on October 18, 2007, the late Benazir Bhutto was warmly welcomed by the people of Pakistan, with the journey from Karachi Airport to Karsaz taking 10 to 11 hours. When the first blast occurred, they thought it was just a transformer explosion, but a second, more intense blast followed, resulting in many of their loyal supporters being martyred. He praised the bravery of those who protected Benazir Bhutto despite the chaos.

CM Shah acknowledged that despite the risks, Benazir Bhutto returned to Pakistan, and even her opponents recognized her courage. He announced that Chairman Bilawal Bhutto will address a rally in Hyderabad today in memory of the martyrs, inviting the public to attend.
