Chip Training and Consulting, the National University of Science & Technology Energy Center and Women in Energy brought together relevant stakeholders from academia, energy distribution companies, support networks and policy makers for a seminar on role of Science Technology Energy Mathematics in empowerment of women: “STEM for Women’s Empowerment in Pakistan: Providing Equal Opportunities.”
The seminar highlighted the under representation of women in professions related to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) in Pakistan particularly in the energy sector.
A large number of students, members of the faculty and experts in these areas participated in the seminar and shared their input.
Chief Guest on the occasion, Member National Assembly, Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Kashmir Affairs & Gilgit Baltistan and Member of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Science & Technology Sobia Kamal Khan highlighted importance of women’s participation in science and technology for the country’s economic growth and development.
While acknowledging the collaborative effort of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) which is the financing body for the project and the NUST, she assured government’s support for STEM education in Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Amidst strict adherence to SOPs in the wake of the current pandemic, National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST) arranged an elaborate two-day thematic Job Fair 2021 at its Islamabad Campus on March 17-18.
Day one witnessed participation of over 110 top organisations for recruiting NUST’s prized students from disciplines of Engineering, IT, Biosciences and Architecture.
On the sidelines of the job fair, an MoU was also signed between NUST and ICCI to collaborate for research.
On day 2, around 60 industries related to Business Management, Social Sciences, and Natural Sciences, conducted interviews of a large number of aspiring final year students enrolled in the relevant disciplines.
