Pakistani weightlifter Nooh Dastgir Butt makes the Asian nation proud by securing Gold at Commonwealth Powerlifting Championships in South Africa.

Butt, a 26-year-old who hailed from a city of wrestlers, brings gold and joy home after winning another title at the Commonwealth Powerlifting Classic Equipped Championships, in the squat event. Lifting an impressive 370 kilograms, Butt not only won the gold medal but also etched his name in history with the rare feat.

The star athlete celebrated the event with fans on social media. “Stop me if you can, this Butt is not going to stop”, a post shared from his account said. His journey is far from over, and he is set to compete in the bench press and deadlift categories, where Nooh is favored to win two additional gold medals.

He is really not going to stop as the ambitious athlete told fans to bring four gold medals and claim the overall championship title in the 120kg+ category.

Nooh Butt first raked in accolades after bagging gold at 2022 Commonwealth Games. Notably, the ‘big guy’ comes from weightlifting family; his father train him, and his brother, Hanzala, is also a professional weightlifting athlete.

In his glittery career, Nooh bagged titles at Hercules Columns competition. Another silver was added under his belt at 2021 World Championship. He previously secured bronze at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. He also achieved bronze medals at junior championships, setting a junior Commonwealth record with a total lift of 395 kg.
