No talks until …

IT has always been desire on the part of Pakistan to resolve all outstanding issues with India through negotiations but unfortunately the other side has never shown the intent and shuns its intransigence to take the matters towards improvement.

In an interview with Al-Arabiya News Channel, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif offered sincere and serious dialogue to address all burning issues including that of Kashmir.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) later also clarified that talks with India can only take place after the Modi government reverses its “illegal action of 5 August 2019”.

Indeed onus is on India to create conducive environment for talks. It is India that vitiated the environment and now it has to make a beginning by doing away with not only the illegal measures in the illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir but also stopping its persecution campaign there aimed at changing the demography of the disputed territory.

Any talks before that will amount to rubbing salt on the wounds of oppressed Kashmiri people.

As regards the Prime Minister’s offer is concerned, it proves Pakistan’s credentials for peace and reflects the difference of approach and mindset.

But we should not expect any positive response from the Indian side as under Modi, the country has only pursued the policy of maligning and isolating Pakistan which in fact always failed miserably.

Regardless of all Indian efforts, Pakistan successfully came out of the FATA’s grey to white list and its contributions in the war on terrorism as well as peace in Afghanistan have also been recognized.

Most recently, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has very rightly exposed the evil face of Modi before the world.

It was really important as the oppressor and perpetrator of terrorism is falsely trying to portray itself as the victim of terrorism.

The promises made with the Kashmiri people by the international community should be fulfilled.

If the people of East Timor and South Sudan can get right to self-determination, then why cannot the people of Kashmir? Muslim Ummah should also become voice of Kashmiris.
