A large number of commuters and motorists are still facing the usual unruly traffic coupled with haphazard movement on decaying portions of Islamabad Highway right from Korang bridge near Gulberg Greens to PWD u-turn signal as the much awaited expansion and construction work could not commence.
Despite much fanfare to kickstart expansion of Korang bridge and construction of underpass at PWD housing colony by the Capital Development Authority, no practical steps on ground could be witnessed so far.
According to motorists, only a muddy portion near the PWD road was dug up some four months back, but afterwards nothing happened.
The motorists have to brace the untold miseries of crisscrossing formidable lines of monstrous heavy vehicles occupying all lanes on this broken and bumpy stretch of road.
Farooq Satti, a daily commuter and employee of a private bank, Sunday complained that the daily traffic congestion which had become a hallmark of this signal free road now turning into nightmare with the nightfall.
Due to absence of traffic police and their indifferent attitude during nighttime, heavy loaded trucks completely blocked the road, he added. Raziq Shah, a journalist and resident of Jinnah Garden, said patch work or rehabilitation work on the broken portions should be carried out immediately by the concerned authority to at least provide some relief to the commuters.
