The dengue virus is still rampaging in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and Islamabad on Monday as the cases are still rising despite a drop in temperature.
During last 24 hours, 108 new dengue cases were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and total number of deaths reported in the province has reached 9 so far. As many as 9,342 people have been diagnosed with the dengue virus in the KP.
According to the KP health department, 96 dengue patients are under treatment in Peshawar hospitals.
During last 24 hours, 92 people were infected by dengue virus in the provincial capital. There are 4,779 dengue patients in the city. There were 8 cases reported in Haripur and 3 in Nowshera.
In Lahore, 77 cases of dengue were confirmed during last 24 hours while 1,222 patients are under treatment in the city hospitals. According to Punjab Health Department Secretary Imran Sikandar Baloch, as many as 103 dengue cases were reported during past 24 hours.
Yesterday, 11 cases were reported in Gujranwala; 8 in Rawalpindi; 3 in Sheikhupura; 1 each in Hafizabad, Kasur, Sahiwal and Sialkot.
As many as 93 people have succumbed to the virus this year. Yesterday, a patient died from dengue fever in Gujranwala. There are 1,702 confirmed cases of dengue in the Punjab hospitals. In Islamabad, 12 people were diagnosed with dengue virus during last 24 hours.
According to the Islamabad district health officer, there are 4,364 dengue cases in the federal capital. In the urban areas of Islamabad, 5 cases while in rural areas 7 dengue cases were reported.—INP
