The combined opposition in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly with Pakistan Muslim League-N, Pakistan People’s Party, JUI of Fazal and Awami National party being the main components, on Friday submitted no-confidence motion against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan.

The no-trust motion against the chief minister was submitted in the assembly secretariat by Awami National Party MPA Hussein Babab and other members of the provincial assembly belonging to opposition parties amid the claims that they enjoy support of more than fifty percent MPAs of the ruling PTI in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly.

“We beg to move that leave may be granted under sub-rule (1) of rule 18D of the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Procedure and Conduct of Business Rules to move a resolution of no-confidence against the Chief Minister under Article 136 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan,” the notice read.

According to the resolution: “ Mahmood Khan has ceased to command the confidence of the majority of the members of this assembly as the Chief Minister, it is hereby resolved that the said Mr. Mahmood Khan shall stand ceased to hold the said office.”

Addressing a press conference, the PPP provincial president said the opposition parties including JUI-F, ANP and PPP were on the same page and united against the PTI government and will succeed in no-confidence motion to oust the PTI-led KP government.
