Advisor to the Prime Minister on Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan Qamar Zaman Kaira has said that elections will not be delayed on the basis of holding a new census or demanding the establishment of new parties.
Kaira, while talking to a private news channel, said that the process of electoral reforms has already started and the Election Commission of Pakistan is busy in the preparation of conducting elections at the scheduled time. He said that delaying elections would not be in the interest of the country’s stability and the PML-N is also not in favor of delaying the process at any cost.
Kaira said that the caretaker setup has a huge responsibility to run the country in an appropriate manner. He said that if the new census notification issue arises, it will not stop the process of elections. Kaira urged politicians to come and participate in the caretaker setup and perform their responsibilities with a sense of responsibility.—INP
