New US Visa fee from October 1, 2025, check complete details here

WASHINGTON – The Trump administration has announced the imposition of a new $250 “Visa Integrity Fee” for foreign travelers, a move that analysts fear could further damage the United States’ tourism industry. The fee will come into effect from October 1, 2025.

US inbound tourism is already under pressure due to President Donald Trump’s tough immigration policies and strained diplomatic ties with several countries.

In July, international arrivals dropped by 3.1 percent to 19.2 million, marking the fifth consecutive month of decline this year.

The new fee will apply to nationals of countries outside the US Visa Waiver Program, including Mexico, Argentina, India, Brazil and China. Once enforced, the total cost of obtaining a US visa will rise to $442, making it the most expensive visa in the world.

Industry groups have raised concerns over the impact of the policy.

The US Travel Association said the additional cost will place “further pressure” on the tourism sector, which is struggling to recover amid global economic challenges.

Experts warned that even major upcoming events such as the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the Los Angeles Olympics may not be enough to offset the decline.

The World Travel and Tourism Council has projected that international tourist spending in the US will reach $169 billion in 2025, down from 2024 levels.

The analysts say Trump’s policies have already eroded America’s appeal as a travel destination, and the new visa fee could accelerate the downturn.
