Provincial Industries and Trade Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal has said that PTI government has laid the foundation of industrial revolution by setting up new industrial zones across the province.
Aslam Iqbal expressed these views while chairing a departmental briefing at his office. He said the biggest industrial estate of the country was being set up in South Punjab. Industrial estate being set up on 20,000 acres at Layyah-Muzaffargarh Road will change economic conditions of the region. Quaid-e-Azam Business Park was being set up in Sheikhupura and Prime Minister Imran Khan will soon lay its foundation stone, he added.
More than $1 billion investment will be made in this business park being set up on 1550 acres of land. Two lac employment opportunities will be generated with the setting up of industrial units in this business park.
Industries were being set up expeditiously in industrial zones being set on more than nine thousand acres of land at Faisalabad and more than $2 billion investment has been made so far while investment agreements of more than $1 billion have been made with foreign investment companies. 4.5 lac employment opportunities will be created with the process of industrialization at Allama Iqbal Industrial City Faisalabad, he stated.
It was a noble service to create employment opportunities for the downtrodden segments of society and Punjab government was adhering to its policy for generating employment opportunities through industrialization. A policy has been formulated to ensure 100 percent colonization of industrial estates, he maintained.
An exit policy has also been chalked out to set up industrial units on plots being vacant for long in these industrial estates. Punjab Small Industries Corporation has set up 24 small industrial zones in big cities of the province and livelihood of thousands of families was linked with these small industrial estates, he concluded.
