New Petrol Price in Pakistan for the Weekend with little relief

Petrol Panic Grips Pakistan As Long Queues Spotted At Fuel Stations Ahead Of Expected Increase

ISLAMABAD – Pakistanis finally got cut in the rates of petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD), but the modest relief is apparently just in numbers, with almost no practical impact.

According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division), the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) revised the ex-depot prices of petroleum products under the government’s pricing mechanism. The new rates will remain effective from Saturday, August 1, to Monday, August 3, 2026.

Under the latest adjustment, the price of petrol (Motor Spirit) has been reduced by Re0.12 per litre, bringing it down from Rs336.15 to Rs336.03 per litre.

Similarly, high-speed diesel (HSD) has become cheaper by Re0.66 per litre, with the new price fixed at Rs392.38 per litre, compared to the previous Rs393.04 per litre.

The latest revision comes amid the government’s ongoing policy of frequently reviewing petroleum prices in response to fluctuations in international crude oil markets, exchange rate movements, and other pricing components.

The reduction follows the previous fuel price review announced a day earlier, when the government had increased petrol prices by Rs1.09 per litre and HSD prices by Rs2.42 per litre, making the latest decision a partial reversal that provides only limited relief to motorists and the transport sector.
