Punjab Minister for Labour & Human Resource Ansar Majeed Khan presided over a high-level meeting at Secretary Labour Office on Friday.
Provincial Labour Secretary Sara Aslam, DG Labour Faisal Nisar, Commissioner Punjab Employees Social Security Institution Tanveer Iqbal Tabassum, Addl. Secretary Sh. Muneeb-ur-Rehman, Secretary Workers Welfare Board Shakeel Bhatti and other officers were also present on this occasion.
Matters regarding the formation of new legislation in the department, workers welfare fund, agreement with COMSAT, scholarships, action against encroachments, progress and Annual development projects, implementation on citizen portal, issuance of R-Five cards, betterment in contribution collaboration, progress on new schemes, coordination with PITB regarding ease of doing business.
Registration of domestic workers and other important issues came under discussion during the meeting. Provincial Secretary Sara Aslam, DG Labour, Commissioner PESSI and Secretary Workers Welfare Board briefed the minister regarding above-mentioned matters. The minister directed the officers to complete the ongoing schemes in the stipulated timeframe. Ansar Majeed Khan said that he was personally monitoring ongoing development projects and implementation on laws. He said that the department has put on the right track with hard work.
He said that measures taken last year were now yielding results. He said that relief can only be provided to the industrial workers by implementing the new laws formulated for this purpose. He said that suggestions have been asked for strict amendment in child labour laws.
He said that the welfare of industrial workers and uplifting their living standard was among the top priorities of the government. Transparency would be promoted in the department through automation.
